Abstract

The population growth rate is an increase or decrease in the number of residents in an area each year. The purpose of the population growth rate is to predict the population of an area in the future. The higher rate of population growth can cause inequality and have an impact on increasing poverty. The purpose of this study was to determine the trend of population growth rate in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province to impact poverty. The analysis in this study uses trend analysis. This type of research used in this research is quantitative descriptive research. The results of this study indicate that the population growth rate of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province within a period of five years namely in 2014-2018 decreased more stable. The decrease was due to the success of the Family Planning (KB) program. Another factor is that the majority of the population's livelihood is in the primary sector (mining and agriculture) so that the population tends to move easily. In addition, there are no social and economic facilities that are needed by the population to encourage residents to migrate out to fulfill their social needs. The high number of poor people shows that the average inequality of expenditure of the poor has increased.
